Bridlington vaccine roll-out declared a huge success – January 2020

The huge undertaking to vaccinate tens of thousands of people who live in and around Bridlington has been praised by the public and health bosses. The Bridlington Primary Care Network commenced the Covid-19 vaccination roll-out for the Bridlington community on 4th January – under guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisation (JVCI). By the end of February the roll-out will have seen well over 16,000 Bridlington residents vaccinated – an average of over 2,000 jabs per week.

In addition to this, the nursing teams from the local GP Surgeries have visited all 27 Care Homes in Bridlington and vaccinated over 500 residents and staff. Bridlington Primary Care Network Manager, praised all the staff and volunteers for doing a fantastic job. “Staff at all the resort Practices have done a tremendous job in vaccinating all the patients in cohorts 1-4 and we are now actively vaccinating Cohorts 5 and 6 which are due to complete in a couple of weeks.” “Our GP practices in Bridlington continue to do an amazing job of vaccinating patients against Covid-19 whilst still delivering their usual service. I’m incredibly proud of all the team involved, and it is a testament to their hard work that our vaccination rates are among the best in the East Riding.” said the Primary Care Network Manager.

“The sooner we can get Bridlington vaccinated, the sooner we can start to get the town back to normal. I would ask patients to please wait to be contacted for their vaccine, and to say yes to having the vaccine when it is offered.” “Please continue to be patient as we work through the large number of patients who are being vaccinated – for our staff who are working extra hours to vaccinate Bridlington – a smile and a thank-you is hugely appreciated.” added the Primary Care Network Manager.

Bridlington resident Rachel Gilson, who visited Station Avenue Health Centre for her appointment, said: “It was fine…all the staff and volunteers were lovely. I can’t praise those involved enough and they were very efficient and extremely friendly.” “It just gives me that extra peace of mind as I am looking after my elderly dad.” added Rachel.
